Frequently Asked Questions
How many actors will be in the workshop?
All of our workshops are limited to a maximum of 10 participants. Actors in the 10-Hour Weekend Intensive Workshops are precast in five scenes, edited to ensure that lines are equally divided between two characters.
How long are the weekend workshop scenes?
All of the weekend workshop scenes are approximately 4-5 minutes long (about 3-4 pages of text). This ensures that all participants receive equal feedback time from our directors.
How are roles cast for the weekend workshops?
Our directors interview each applicant by phone. Actors are cast in roles for which they are currently suited.
What is the level of experience of actors in the weekend workshops?
We accept actors at all levels of experience--we only ask that you are serious about developing your craft. Our directors make every effort to match scene partners with comparable experience.
Is a knowledge of Shakespeare required to participate?
No, a knowledge of Shakespeare is not required to participate. Actors will be exposed to scenes from several Shakespearean plays during the 10 hour workshop, and will have the opportunity to discuss, analyze, and ask questions about the scenes.
What do I need to do before the workshop begins?
Actors are expected to come into the weekend workshop off-book. Memorization is the single most important thing you can do to prepare for the workshop--the more prepared you are, the more you will get out of the experience. You will receive your script approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the start of the workshop.
What is your cancellation policy?
Workshop fees are non-refundable. Cancellations made prior to two weeks before the workshop date can be used as a credit toward future workshops. If you purchased through Coursehorse, then our Refund & Cancellation policy applies to your purchase. If you are entitled to a refund, or have any questions, please contact Coursehorse here.
What happens if my partner can't make it to the workshop?
We make every effort to ensure that you are matched with a reliable partner who is committed to the dates of your chosen workshop--this is the main reason why we do not send out scripts until payment has been made. In the unfortunate event that your partner has a last-minute issue, we keep a list of "subs" we call on to fill the role. These are experienced actors with whom we have worked before.
